SARA MARLOWE HALL
Los Angeles based painter Sara Marlowe Hall’s first solo show in her hometown features a series of plaster paintings that transport us through memories of landscapes from travels in Europe, from Menorca to England and returning to California. Her work embodies that feeling that starts with color, one that brings us back to places we’ve been and ones we dream of. Hall achieves lightness with heavy materials, grounding us all the while giving us license to travel to other places through the portal of her paintings.

LOOKING BACK - DYLAN'S FRENCH SUMMER
From Los Angeles to Paris and finally Plouescat, Brittany. Our son's first big trip outside the US to go meet Mamoune, his French grandmother. An eleven hour plane ride, a few cab rides and a train later we made it to the Western part of France and settled in for a few weeks with family. Each day following the next with the slowness of repetition. Croissants for breakfast, beach walks and cold swims, lunch, nap, beach walk, aperitif (happy hour), dinner and wine.

AEROPOSTALE - FALL 2021
Dusty hot valley winds didn’t keep us from having the best time with our wide cast of talent for Aeropostale’s new fall back to school campaign, “Back to Free”. We rolled around in the grass, ran after some skating, others biking, stuffed ourselves in an old volvo, made rain on a sunny day and found mellow moments as well. Produced by Standard Black.
We were fortunate to connect with two beautiful families that we photographed in Santa Monica. Cpaturing the dynamic between siblings Sebastian, Cameron and Alexander was as fun as photographing the loving connection between newborn Cire, brother Faruq and their parents. Lots of screens in there too, for everyone to do selfies, play and do homework. Styled by Lauren Knudsen. Hair & Makeup by Nichole Servin.

Shot in Los Angeles on a sunny afternoon, Ciara was easy going and gave us a very French Nouvelle Vague vibe. A few weeks before her 24th birthday, she is breaking through as Emily in Cherry, acting alongside actor Tom Holland, an adaptation of the gritty book by Nico Walker, a story of a soldier during the war in Iraq, his life as a drug addict and returning to during the midst of the American opioid epidemic. Her best and rawest performance yet. Styled by Petra Flannery. Hair by Mara Roszak. Makeup by Molly Stern.
Our first shoot of 2021! Stylist Heather Rest had some beautiful pieces she wanted to feature in a colorful and strong story. Kylie from Photogenics was the perfect choice to model the pieces with elegance and poise. We loved playing with movement in contrast with the structure of the clothing. We also played with color in light to complement the tones of the fabrics. Stephanie Nicole Smith kept Kylie’s skin glowing while enhacing her bone structure. Anna Lyles made Kylie’s hair sleek to keep the play with the lines of the clothing.
When our friend and stylist Lauren Knudsen announced that her daughter Zola was just signed by IMG Models, we all decided to go out and take some photos to build her portfolio. Lauren pulled beautiful FW20 pieces, while Nicole Chew kept her hair and makeup effortless. THE LATERALS - JAEDEN MARTELL
17-year-old Jaeden Martell hit the spotlight running with 2017’s summer hit, IT; a modern remake of the 1980s classic clown-horror-story, originally penned by Stephen King. This isn’t to say he hasn’t been at it for a while. Martell’s the type of actor you’ve seen multiple times before, on the both the big screen and the small, but like most young actors, their ever-changing physicality keeps you from spotting them and relating them to previous roles. Four and a half months into quarantine, Martell met us up on the PCH for a small crew photoshoot, styled by Heather Rest and groomed by Andrea Pezzilo. The soft-spoken Angeleno opened up about what he’s like in real life, and being on the edge of 17. Full interview on The Laterals' website.

Annual family visit to Paris. Maman is stylish as always, the heat wave softens the blacktop of the curbsides in front of wine bars, naps at home or in parks are "de rigueur", and of course we eat our way through the 11th arrondissement.
Hilly cities of Lisbon and Porto, seafood and more seafood, juicy peaches, jagged cliffs jutting over golden beaches, tiles on walls, roofs, inside and out, the kindness of people, and the ocean, always.
